Local Design & Build
Built for Barnsley's Stone Cottages.
Barnsley's architectural identity is defined by its stone-built cottages — from the honey-coloured gritstone terraces of Penistone and Cawthorne to the robust sandstone farmhouses scattered across the surrounding Pennine foothills. These properties present a unique set of structural challenges: thick rubble-filled cavity walls, uneven flagstone floors, low ceiling heights, and load-bearing partitions positioned in ways that fragment living space. Our 35 years of experience, based right here in Barnsley, means we understand these buildings intimately.
We specialise in full structural knock-throughs — carefully removing internal walls and installing engineered steel beams to create the open, flowing kitchen-diners that modern families need, without compromising the structural integrity or character of the original stonework. Our traditional shaker kitchens are designed to complement the warmth and texture of natural stone: in-frame cabinetry with beaded detailing, hand-painted timber finishes, Belfast sinks, and solid timber or honed quartz worksurfaces that feel at home in a cottage setting. From initial survey through to plastering, electrics, plumbing, and final installation — one team, one vision, one flawless result.
